These are great. A compact focusing 8x20 monocular with 2 prism erecting assembly with glass achromatic optics that provides quality sharp color corrected erect images and focuses from about 6 feet to infinity. Cstar Model # M-28C (they call it a "Spy-Scope").
Glass optics: 3 element Kellner style eyepiece, cemented doublet achromatic objective lens and 2 porro prisms. Adjustments are very smooth and optics are coated. Fold down eyecups to make it easy for eyeglass wearers. Provides a surprisingly wide field of view. Objective is recessed for protection and the barrel is threaded for filters or attachments. Compact size, carry case measures just 70mm by 50mm by 35mm. Includes case, strap, cleaning cloth and instructions.
You can get creative with this also because of the quality optics and very light weight aluminum body. Maybe make a holder to attach it to your cell phone for telephoto shots, or just add an achromat at the end of the barrel to turn this into a microscope. Great for education as the barrel easily unscrews and other parts can be used to show how a porro prism erecting system works, etc.
Great to carry in your pocket or purse for shows, sporting events, wildlife, etc. Sharper Image sold a similar one for $59.95 and Jomira advertised a similar one in Science News Magazine for $59. This one is real quality and priced at less than $15, only here at Surplus Shed. You may want to get them not only for yourself but also for family members and friends as gifts.
